Visit Porto Vecchio
and its surroundings

Welcome to Porto Vecchio, third city of Corse, little pearl of the south east of the Isle of Beauty. Former “city of salt”, Porto Vecchio became a high place of upmarket tourism. Its success comes from its idyllic beaches streching on both sides of the gulf. Some of them are often part of the top most beautiful beaches of the world. People who want to party will also appreciate Porto Vecchio owing to the Via Notte, which is the biggest open night club in Europe. The inland called Alta Rocca is stunning. Bonifacio, other treasure of the island, is only 29 kms away. Discover all the wonders of Porto Vecchio and its surroundings.

Must-see around Porto Vecchio

A jewel 29 kms down south

BONIFACIO, A STUNNING BEAUTY

At the extreme south of Corsica, only 12 km away from Sardaigna ( which you can see very well), Bonifacio is an awesome place. Its citadel, with slopy backstreets and small plazas, sits atop limestone cliffs, sculpted by wind and sea, 70 m high and 6 km long. Its genovese fortifications and nice dwellings are built along the edges. Draw-bridge of Gêne door, stone houses, churches, stairs of the King Aragon with 187 steps drilled into the cliff and other surprising monuments… Bonifacio is an historical and legendary city. Its seaside is also extaordinary. An exemple is the “sand grain” down the cliffs.

LET’S GO TO THE LAVEZZI ISLANDS

Inside the Lavezzi Islands archipelago, conserved paradise between sea and sky, between Corsica and Sardaigna, and part of the national natural reserve of the Strait of Bonifacio, The Lavezzi Island is the southern point of Corsica. You can go there by boat, or kayak for the sporty ones, from Bonifacio or Porto Vecchio. Here, there is no inhabitants, except from the semaphore gardians, and no buildings. But the nature is outstanding : a lagoon, beaches of white sand surrounded by granite blocks, charming creeks where swimming is a great experience… Maybe you’ll see some dolphins on the way back !
